JUNGLE TREKKIN IN MY T-TANK

First 'unofficial' news of the T-90 and T-84 field mobility trials held in Malaysia as part of the selection process for a new MBT. Incidentally, I spotted them both yesterday sitiing in the Armour School with big tarps over them. It was significant that both are MUCH lower than the SIBMAS FSV and Kondors we currently operate. Everyone was impressed by 'that big gun!'
Anywy...back to the story. The tanks were sent to Trengganu state, in the remote NE corner of the country and home to some of the WORST terrain and infrastructure available. They essentially put the poor things through a series of really very challenging mobility tests, including fording, mud-holing, small jungle tracks, 40% inclines, swamp etc. The T-90 seems to have been able to negotiate these without too much difficulty (althought the Russians did look rather worried at points in the jungle trekkin and hull deep mud). Unfortunately, it appears that the Ukranians were having a bad day....days. They had to perform 2 engine changes and refused any slope of more than 25%.
