В книжке Лундгрена по Самару - интересный и подробный разбор боя, в том числе стрельбы "Ямато" и "Нагато" по "Вайт Плэйнс" между 07.00-07.10. Там был разрыв снаряда под килем "Вайт Плэйнс":

The second salvo fired at this vessel was a six gun salvo and a perfect and close straddle, believed to be major caliber (AP) shells. The ship was severely shocked and twisted. One shell apparently exploded under the ship at the turn in the bilge, about frame 142 port, with the resulting mining effect. Shock threw out both generators resulting in complete loss of power. The ship twisted and lifted, crushing and tearing expansion joints at frame 101 and 146 port and starboard. Bottom shell plating in C-902V between frames 136-152 and port shaft alley and turn in bilge dished up 6 inches. Frames and web framing torn loose and buckled, numerous welds torn loose from overhead and bottom plating and buckling from bottom plating slightly forward of after engine room and boiler room. Fragment 8" diameter causing deep dent at frame 141. Turn in bilge prevented fragment from penetrating shell plating. Oil leaks in storage rooms C-401A and bottom shell plating buckled in C903 between frames 148-149 and starboard shaft alley also buckled in. Salt water leak in gasoline void A-406 flooding to 36" deep. Both gasoline educators were frozen and warped and the after elevator was out of alignment. The hangar deck shell plating cracked from deck level to one foot forward of expansion joint 146. Forty eight hours after the battle more cracks developed indicating hull stresses. All bed plate bolts to the starboard main engine were stretched and one sheared off, the engine out of alignment, sprung crank shaft, air ducts to boilers No. 3 and No. 4 completely blown out, main circulator governor damaged."

Captain Sullivan noted in his report, "The salvo which so severely shook the ship fell as the fighters were being launched or were about to be launched. During the resultant undulation of the deck one of the fighters parted its single wing lines, jumped its chocks and its propeller chewed about three feet off the port wing of the fighter ahead. The remaining fighters were then six including one on the hangar deck. Though the ship was twisting and turning her course was essentially into the wind and we launched the five fighters, top-side with a relative wind of approximately thirty knots. The launching record shows the time of launching to be between 0702 and 0706:30
.

Это, видимо, мог быть 18-дм снаряд Ямато, выпущенный с дистанции 30...34 км. Считать ли такое попаданием, не знаю :-))
