Статья о блокаде Мальты в 1940-42 гг.

> Эта версия в принципе лучше сочетается с тем, что написано в книжке Shores C., Cull B., Malizia N. - Air War for Yugoslavia, Greece and Crete 1940-41 (1987):
>With no Wellingtons operating from Greece since the departure of the 70 Squadron detachment, night raids had been much reduced. However, late on 13 December, four such aircraft from 148 Squadron on Malta made the long flight to attack Valona. Bad weather conditions forced the leader to turn back, but two of the remaining trio reached their target, the third bombing the secondary objective, Crotone. All returned safely to Malta before midnight. Next day however, a new detachment of four Wellingtons from 70 Squadron reached Menidi [это под Афинами], and on the night of 15/16 December these raided Durazzo. Again weather was bad and Sqn Ldr Rolfe, the leader, was forced to turn back, flying direct to the unit's home base at Kabrit. The other three attacked and returned to Menidi, reporting seeing a large fire in the harbour area as a result of their bombing.
>Т.е. Неаполь исключается, но вместо Таранто стоит Кротоне, который выглядит очень странно как цель, так как вроде ничего не было. Ну и про (удачную!) бомбёжку крейсера ни слова – кто же его повредил?

"Voices in flight:The Wellington Bomber"
Martin W. Bowman

148 Squadron’s first notable success came on 7 December during a raid on Castel Benito airfield in Libya by six aircraft. Achieving total surprise, although two of the Wellingtons were badly damaged, two hangars on the airfield were made unusable and an administrative building and a fuel dump were also hit. Many dozens of aircraft on the ground were destroyed with incendiary bullets. Next came a raid on Valona in Albania on 13 December by four aircraft, but ten-tenths cloud forced three to return with their bomb-loads. Following a raid by nine of 148 Squadron’s aircraft on naval vessels in Naples harbour on 14 December came a message from the AOC Malta, Air Vice Marshal Hugh Pughe Lloyd - ‘You have been born and also reached years of discretion at the same time. Your prenatal activities indicate a healthy child. Good luck to you all and may 148 Squadron and its association with Malta prove of ever-increasing benefit to the Empire’
