Re: Ме-262 отгребал...
>Ага-ага. Только "поршни" почему-то валят 262е, получив некий опыт борьбы с оными.
сами немцы почему-то пришли к полностью иным выводам:
The use of the Me 262 as an attack fighter against Allied bombers was dictated by the impossibility of using other German fighters for this purpose and by the need to do something to stop or hinder the Allied raids. But the German pilots regarded the ideal role of the Me 262 to be that of a pure fighter, finding and destroying Allied fighters and fighter-bombers. They were sure that the employment of a few hundred jet aircraft against the Allied fighter escorts would have forced the Allied air forces to use jets themselves or drastically to curtail their operations over Germany in daytime.
World War II fighting jets by Jeffrey Ethell & Alfred Price
Naval Institute Press 1994
и объяснение "отгребания" те же авторы дают несколько иное, чем "опыт борьбы":
For all of the great hopes entertained for the Messerschmitt 262 earlier in the war, during its nine months of operations it had been able to achieve little. From a detailed study of British and American records it appears that in the fighter role it caused the destruction of no more than 150 Allied aircraft — for the loss of about 100 Me 262s in aerial combat. In the fighter-bomber role its attacks had been so ineffectual that only rarely did they merit even a mention in Allied reports.
There are many reasons for this lack of success, but overshadowing all else is the fact that only a very small proportion of the Me 262s built ever went into action. After the end of October 1944 the various Messerschmitt plants were turning out Me 262s in numbers far greater than the Luftwaffe could usefully employ; and by the end of the war more than 1,400 had been delivered. Yet there were never more than about 200 in service with operational units at any one time; and rarely, if ever, were more than 60 Me 262 sorties of all types — fighter, fighter-bomber, night-fighter and reconnaissance — mounted on any one day. The chaotic supply situation in Germany during the final six months of the war, resulting from the incessant Allied air attacks on the German transport system, imposed a severe brake on every stage of the Me 262 operations.
общая оценка самолета этими англоамериканцами:
Certainly the Messerschmitt 262 was the finest all-round fighter in service in any air force at the end of the Second World War. Yet its margin of effectiveness over the best fighters in the opposing air forces, and in particular the Mustang, was not great enough to redress the gross numerical inferiority of the Luftwaffe during the closing stages of the war.
